April spans two of the twenty-four solar terms in the traditional Chinese calendar - Li Xia and Xiao Man, which means every one of us has contributed to our accomplishments for a quarter by now. As the weather hints the seasonal changes, the warmth becomes energies that grow the harvests. At this Li Xia and Xiao Man are the times when Comme celebrates her birthday, the artist developed her creations based on the inspirations and insights gained from her exhibition launched in March.
Her seamless efforts over months resulted from the environment, which she regarded as a nourishment - even with challenges, confusion, and occasional fatigue. The blossoms around her this spring and early summer were comforts as she took deep breaths and kept her smiles along hours and days of hard work.
The artist wishes everyone to gain patience from wisdom, luck and blessings from overcoming hardship, just as these works in various themes leveraged the roughness of patches and rigid boundaries of things - in search of happiness from a peaceful mind to appreciate the beauties in our surroundings.

This starts everything, from the plane to this pane. Object singled out, fulfilling the colors, building the dimensions and perspectives, then casts the shadow. The drop of the little dew nurtures the fruits and flourishes the mind.

Grasses yearning, like the acts of the strokes made by the tips of the brushes on my hand.
Inspiring moments happen naturally as if the gradual picture appears alive... all the developments, formations, and circumstances are necessary for the creations that we celebrate.

Daybreak sets the tones for these waters, clarifying the layers of time - regardless of how sophisticated such an arrangement resulted, the beauty of Nature is forever beyond words.
Sunbeams stroke the dust and greys, colours and spectrums being seen stir our desires... sounds like the dreamscape presented by poets and painters alike. Details reveal the painter's skilful observations, every bit of the particulars in the figurative landscapes shows us aesthetic ideals to pursue.

Love from parents always triumphs as a safeguard from all setbacks in life. Hideous time! Who keeps stealing all the memories and strengths of our dear ones...
Life experiences narrated in the painting are like a mirror, revealing our very intimate selves.
Painting as artwork and as a process of making helps me to release my sighs, yet soulmates who share these experiences count as few.

When she first encountered oil painting in 2015, Comme was intrigued and left her original profession to devote herself to art for three years. The artist’s later attempts at floral arrangements widened her perspectives on the visual arts. Her determination, practices and experiences, have been establishing her style in landscape and figurative paintings. Engaged and being awarded several times in international painting competitions have encouraged the artist to continue sharing insights into Nature, ways of expression, craftsmanship and technologies with other creative talents.
The unique professional journey geared the female artist with an eye for aesthetics, impeccable communication skills, not to mention her pursuit of excellence in painting skills.
Comme Chan (b.1980), is a management professional in the medical aesthetic industry with 20 years of experience. She once led the business management of a listed company where she successfully achieved remarkable sales results and trained an outstanding team of frontline specialists.
